The landscape around me is a constant source of inspiration. Dry stone walls are a distinctive part of our heritage here in Ireland and I always find myself mesmerised by the shapes and forms. Often the human experience is explored as a metaphor through the abstract nature of my work. In this painting 'Stonework' I explore the idea that each piece of stone is a moment in a human life. As we stand back we can observe the unique shapes that come together and form the Whole. Each textured stone represents a moment of joy, of hardship or a golden memory. The intricate construction reflects the complex tapestry of our existences.
